Maureen Lipman reprises her award-winning performance as Rose, a woman whose tumultuous journey through anarchic times takes her from the devastation of Nazi- occupied Europe to the allure of the American dream. Through the life of one woman Rose tells the story of a century where everything changed except the violence of the strong against the weak.
“A performance of unassailable greatness” What’s on Stage
The original production of Rose was produced at The National Theatre and on Broadway in 1999. It is perhaps even more relevant today, with the plight of refugees and allegations of antisemitism continuing to dominate the news. This powerful production is a moving reminder of the harrowing events that shaped the last century.

Fantastic play! Exceptional and captivating play and performance for those with short legs
Very powerful play, brilliantly performed by Maureen Lipman
It was BRILLIANT! Maureen Lipman was fantastic, I laughed and I cried! Thank you
Fabulous one woman play. Miriam was so evocative of her character conveying pathos, reject, desire and resolution .
A brilliant performance by Maureen Lipman of a magnificent play. Such a long script for Maureen to perfect but she pulled it off flawlessly. Only complaint was the theatre seats are very cramped so if you're a taller person like me get an aisle seat if possible.
Maureen Lipman performance is nothing short of mesmerising as she effortlessly portrays the complexities of Rose’s journey. A must-see production of a captivating play.
I love Maureen Lipman as an actor and thought her performance in this one woman show was admirable. However the overall experience was gruelling - it was very long, the venue was hot and complete silence was needed by the audience to be able to hear everything. I wonder if this would have been improved with a more animated style of performance whilst still respecting the sensitive content of the material.
A very thought provoking story with lots of very fitting humour! I really enjoyed the whole experience!
Moving performance by Maureen Lipman in this solo production. Sad and funny in equal measure; I’d certainly recommend it. I sat in the front row so I had plenty of legroom. Very close to stage so you looking very slightly upwards during the show
Incredible performance from Maureen Lipman - thought-provoking and emotional. Such talent to take the audience on this roller coaster journey of Rose’s life. Grateful for the slices of humour too.
A stunning, moving performance by the amazing Maureen Lipman. One of the best theatre experiences I have ever had.
