Jonathan Miller’s classic production of The Barber of Seville is a feast of frivolous fun.
Enjoy Figaro’s mischievous escapades as he assists Count Almaviva in prising the beautiful Rosina away from her lecherous guardian, Dr Bartolo.
Be prepared for ridiculous disguises, elaborate deceptions, mistaken identities and the closest of shaves as barber Figaro helps the young lovers find a way to be together.
Rossini’s comic masterpiece fizzes with memorable melodies in an entertaining production that unites the theatrical worlds of Italian commedia dell’arte and Whitehall farce.
American conductor Roderick Cox makes his ENO debut. ENO favourite Charles Rice plays Figaro while Simon Bailey, one of the most versatile bass-baritones of his generation, sings Dr Bartolo. The cast is rounded out with ENO Harewood Artist Innocent Masuku as Count Almaviva and Irish soprano Anna Devin will be making her ENO debut as Rosina.
Book now to see one of opera’s funniest works, Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, on the London Coliseum stage.

Great performance, very entertaining, just occasionally out of time between singers and orchestra. Very enjoyable and would recommend.
Production was brilliant and we noticed a lady who was signing with great artistry and passion. A special thank you to her.
Super performances, wonderful scenography. The whole holds one’s attention rapt straight to the final curtain!
Sparkling performance.
Great opera, little space. Liked the costumes and the « mise en scène ». We did not expect the opera to be in English.
We were delighted with the seats especially as we wanted 4 seats together. We thoroughly enjoyed the show, it was really great, the music, the sound, stage set, everything. It was a little hot in the theatre during the evening but despite that we had a great night!
A very imaginative production Rossini's operatic challenge is a good choice for the ENO. Soloists were strong and their slapstick humour brought out many of the more subtle characterisations of this opera. The Coliseum, surrounded as it is by reasonably-priced restaurants, is an ideal venue for opera lovers and more reasonably priced. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
The performance was amazing, shame for the very uncomfortable seats tho
One of the best performances I have ever seen! Figaro must be knighted!
We went to see the Barbier de Seville with my family. We were 5 people and we all enjoyed the performance very much. Every thing was perfect.
